Experts in the mining and processing materials from quarries in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Lithuania, Estonia and Hungary met at a specialised conference in the President Hotel. The Caterpillar company, manufacturer of construction machinery and heavy equipment, and the Phoenix-Zeppelin company, exclusive sales representative of the Caterpillar brand in the Czech market, were organizers of the event. Experts in the mining of minerals from the Caterpillar company also gave speeches at the conference. The conference had two parts - theoretical and practical. The theoretical part focused on reduction of operating costs of mining and raw material processing in quarries, efficiency of the working cycle, safety at work and expected trends in the mining industry. The practical part included a demonstration of the machinery at work in the Devils' Stairs large quarry. The Contech company arranged interpreting in both the parts, using whisper sets to six languages, five desk interpreting booths, a sound system, lapel microphones and a desk with projection.
